Jamal L. Mahmood, CFP®

Jamal is passionate about helping families and individuals to take control of their personal finances, and to seek strategies and products that will enhance their progress toward their financial goals.  He has extensive experience in the areas of insurance planning, including life, disability, and long-term care; as well as in college savings and investing for retirement.  A major area of current focus for Jamal is assisting families with the "distribution planning" phase of retirement, and how to structure income to suit the needs of retirees.  

Jamal has worked in the field of financial services since 1998.  He has been an Agent and Wealth Management Advisor with the Northwestern Mutual Life insurance company, as well as an equities strategist for Triton Global Securities, and private capital management firm.  He founded his own Registered Investment Advisory firm in 2009, before merging with Access Wealth Planning in 2010.  He joined Main Street Financial Solutions in 2017 as an Investment Advisor Representative. He is also a registered representative of Purshe Kaplan Sterling Investments and a licensed insurance broker for life and health insurance in New Jersey and several other states.    

Jamal's professional credentials are deep and broad-based.  He is a Certified Financial Planner (TM) practitioner, as well as a Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), the requirements for which include in-depth courses on insurance, investments, taxation, retirement planning and estate planning.  He is a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), a credential which is focused on life insurance planning.  In addition, Jamal is also Certified in Long Term Care (CLTC), and a Chartered Advisor for Senior Living (CASL) and a Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP), all of which require courses pertaining to the unique requirements of retirees and seniors.   

Jamal holds a B.A. from the Jepson School of Leadership Studies at the University of Richmond, VA.  He is a proud resident of Verona, NJ with his wife, Hannah, and their two children. In his spare time, Jamal enjoys traveling and volunteering. He enjoys reading about history and economics.
